What: Expanding program nationally to a new, U.S. location
When: Beginning on May 1st, 2017
Where: Orlando, FL
Why: To empower more homeless children to know they are capable of breaking the poverty cycle
How: By partnering with the Coalition for the Homeless which has been operating in Central Florida for over 30 years. The Coalition for the Homeless provides counseling, job training, and education programs to help individuals and families become self-sufficient.
So what: All children need art. The growth of the drawchange programs means we are expanding the movement to end homelessness and giving children back their voice.
Drawchange will expand to Orlando on May 1st, 2017 to empower more homeless children to know they are capable of breaking the poverty cycle. By partnering with the Coalition for the Homeless, we will be able to grow our programs to reach even more children nation wide. All children need art, and drawchange wants to make sure all children have the same opportunities to experience the therapeutic components of art.The partnership between drawchange and the Coalition for the Homeless will give empowerment to the children temporarily living in the homeless shelter. By envisioning their dreams, boosting their self esteem, and experiencing the stress relieving benefits of art, the children can break the cycle of poverty with a new found awareness of self. On an average night, the Coalition serves 140 children and their families. The typical age of the children being served is around seven years old. Drawchange is anxious to fill this need in Florida and excited for the opportunity to impact even more children.
